- A relationship in which a therapist solves your problems. Only YOU can solve your problems. We are here to help educate and guide you, but YOU have to do the solving.
About Denise Wilburn, MS, LCPC
Denise received a Master's Degree in Counseling and Guidance from Texas A&M University. She is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of IL. Denise has served children, adolescents, families, and women in mental health clinics, hospitals, schools, churches, and private practice for 25 years. Denise is married and the mother of 2 boys and 2 dogs. She loves the mountains, hiking, reading, and sitting by a fire. She cooks and runs daily, but doesn't claim to love either! In her spare time, Denise homeschools her youngest son, teaches Bible study, volunteers on a team serving first responders involved in critical incidents, and runs a non-profit supporting families affected by the rare genetic disorder Galactosemia.Credentials

Areas of Expertise
Critical Incidents
At Renew Counseling Services we have specialized training in critical incident response. We offer services to workplaces, schools, and community organizations after accidents, disasters, tragic situations, death or suicide of group members, violent events, or other critical incidents. We are equipped to provide processing groups, education and information sessions, and 1:1 support to aid in the return of optimal functioning for your team. Processing a critical incident with the group that experienced it accelerates normal recovery, prevents unnecessary negative after-effects, and normalizes difficult feelings, reactions, and thoughts.
Christian Counseling
Renew Counseling Services offers Christian Counseling. This means we rely on our faith in and the power of Jesus Christ to provide the best counseling service we can. We believe the Bible is the training manual for life and are educated in using God's Word to serve those who choose our counseling services. You do not have to be a Christian to receive help at Renew and we will not force our beliefs on you. The degree to which spirituality is part of your counseling is totally up to you.
Women
At Renew Counseling Services we specialize in women's concerns. We have extensive experience addressing women's issues including anxiety, depression, low self-worth, past trauma, hormonal changes, motherhood, life stage changes, eating disorders, relationship turmoil, and more. We specialize in helping women realize they are "fearfully and wonderfully made" by learning new skills and thinking patterns to combat the mental health issues they experience.
